In St-Isidore, the PeeWee Minors got strong goaltending from Tanya Winchombe to steal two points from the Silver Seven White with a 4-3 win. “The first period and the third period were very difficult,” said coach Mario Galipeau. Despite being outshot by a 3-1 margin, the Cobras jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, and doubled the score to 4-0 in the second. The Silver Seven came roaring back to make it a nail-bitter in the third with three unanswered goals. Affiliate player Mikael Pilon set the pace for the Cobras with a goal and an assist, and Mathieu Galipeau chipped in two assists. Daniel Markovic, Éric DeChamplain and Mathieu Fournier added singles. “It was a real team effort, with goals from all three lines,” said Galipeau.
In the nightcap, the Major Midget Cobras rode shutout goaltending by Ben Allen to a 7-0 win over the Silver Seven. Six different players scored goals. Nicholas Bigelow got a pair, while R.J. Wallace, Jean-Philippe Pilon, Alain Myre, Maxime Beland and Jean Francois Dubois each scored once. “We played the same way from the start to the end, and that’s why we were successful,” said coach Guy Girouard.
On the road, the Cobras were not so fortunate. The Minor Midgets dropped A 2-1 squeaker to Gloucester, while the Bantam Major Cobras ended up on the short end of an 8-3 score to the Rangers.
